A lot of these are coming up. One of my favorites is running today in Irish war cry in the last race at Gulfstream. He is a nice looking well bred colt and they schooled him to obtain a different running style. I also like Favorable outcome and Mastery and neither are running immediately. El Areeb is running at Aqueduct. He is a strong favorite as he has been toying with NY horses.
Normally NY is a strong place to get a big Derby horse. But that has not been trued the past decade, give or take.I do like a lightly used horse in Batallion runner and he beat Beasley, who is a good 4th choice while lightly raced colt in the same race as Irish war cry. If I can find a place I can get to I am loving their pre derby future odds of 200 and 250-1. There is another prep of sorts. The John Battaglia at Turfway Park. A race with lightly raced horses and they need points to get into The Derby but could be a factor later in the Preakness and other late 3 year old stakes. They are Star Empire and Hunka burning love. Both are lightly raced and have obscure pedigrees but i will check them out and rate them against the rest of the day at Turfway.
Last, but certainly not least is the best filly in the country and most years over the past decade there is always a filly who looks better than the colts and they do not jump in to run in the Derby and a possible triple crown. She is a massive favorite at Santa Anita and she is the beast called Unique Bella.
